At 36, Bakary Meité stretches his long rugby career at US Carcassonne (Pro D2), after having notably played in Massy, Béziers and at the Stade Français. Like all his sports colleagues, the third line is deprived of competition, due to confinement linked to the coronavirus. He decided to hire a maintenance worker at the Sainte-Périne hospital in Paris, as he tells in a strong testimony to RMC Sport.

"The hospital was looking for people to be able to do the cleaning. There was a shortage of people. [...] If that can help the nursing assistants from doing it, it's great".

"The hospital was looking for people to do the cleaning, because this period is very hard for them," explains Meité. There was a lack of people. The Ivorian international explains having followed his nephew Zakaria, at the beginning of last week. He officiates in two buildings of this hospital establishment in the 16th arrondissement.

"I clean everything that is close at hand"

"I disinfect everything," he explains. I clean everything that is close at hand. Handrails, switches, door handles, windows, window towers… ”

The rugby player recounts the very difficult scenes he faces, and salutes the courage of the nursing staff and his colleagues.

"I work with people who do this all their lives," reports the man whose mother worked in the same profession "for 30 years." “These are people who are all of foreign origin and they are on the front line, observes Meité. This is France. "
