In this period of confinement linked to the coronavirus, mountain walks are prohibited. This couple from Toulouse may have thought of finding the parade by staying a “hidden” week at the Bastan refuge, at 2,240 meters above sea level, in the Hautes-Pyrénées.

It was checked Sunday evening at the Lannemezan toll by the Tarbes departmental road safety squadron.

The gendarmes did not act blindly, but thanks to the information provided by their colleagues from the PGHM of Pierrefitte-Nestalas, who had spotted the "vacationers" vehicle by helicopter Sunday morning. They had tried to hide it in the parking lot of Lac de l'Oule, reports the gendarmerie of Hautes-Pyrénées on its Facebook page. The couple were fined 135 euros for non-compliance with the confinement.

The body of a walker found on Saturday

The authorities ask the walkers to give up their walk until further notice, in particular not to take the risk of clogging up the emergencies and to give even more work to the medical personnel, very taken by the epidemic of Covid-19.

Saturday morning, the Lannemezan mountain rescue CRS found the body of a 28-year-old young man who had left alone the day before to hike near Piau-Engaly, also in the Hautes-Pyrénées. They were supported by a helicopter of the National Gendarmerie and an emergency physician from SAMU 65.
