Religions in France and the Coronavirus

No more public celebrations, nor religious gatherings, while the faithful of the monotheistic religions will enter a period of religious festivals, Passover for the Jews, the Easter celebration among Christians currently in Lent, and from April 24, 2020, the month of Ramadan for Muslims, Religions du Monde questions the leaders of religions about the role of religions in this period of pandemic and confinement.
In an effort to mobilize the moral and spiritual forces of the nation, President Emmanuel Macron gathered in an audio conference, Monday, March 23, 2020, religious leaders, representatives of Masonic lodges and secular associations.

Several of them are on this program: the Grand R abbin of France Haïm Korsia; Mgr Éric de Moulins-Beaufort, President of the Conference of Bishops of France; Mohamed Moussaoui the president of CFCM, the French Council of Muslim worship.

- Haïm Korsia published, shortly before the Covid-19 epidemic, an essay " Reinventing the dawn " (Fayard) on the re-enchantment of our society. The Chief Rabbi of France deploys a speech on the reweaving of the social bond and the need to be united which takes all its topicality in this new health crisis .

- Éric Vinson, specialist in religion and secularism , responsible for the Emouna program at Sciences Po , re-reads the place of religion and the lessons to be learned in the light of this health crisis.
