“Vladimir Putin expressed deep condolences to the families and friends of the deceased writer Yuri Bondarev,” TASS quoted the press secretary of Russian leader Dmitry Peskov as saying.
According to him, Putin noted that Russians appreciate the writer's work, which has become "a great example of a narrative about the heroic past and heroic present of our people."
Earlier it was reported that the Soviet front-line writer Yuri Bondarev died in Moscow at the age of 96.
