Cooling awaits Moscow this week, forecasters warn.

As the leading specialist of the Phobos weather center Mikhail Leus noted in an interview with RT, in the last days of March the weather pleased the inhabitants of the capital region with out of season warm, sunny, dry and calm weather.

According to him, by Sunday evening, "the region will feel the approach of the atmospheric front and feel changes in the weather, there will be more clouds and rain in places."

“On Monday night, a cold atmospheric front will manifest itself, rains passing into wet snow will pass. On the first day of the week, sleet is expected and the air temperature will fluctuate around zero. It will be cold throughout the next week. This will be especially noticeable on Tuesday and Wednesday, ”Leus concluded.

According to the weather forecaster, the probability of precipitation these days is small, but the temperature will drop below the climatic norm. According to Leus, in the second half of the coming week it will get a little warmer, but we are talking about symbolic meanings.

The supervisor of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, is also of the opinion that the next week will begin with a cooling. According to him, next Monday the temperature will be near zero at night and during the day.

He explained that this is due to "the passage of a pronounced cold front, which will bring what is called bad weather."

“Precipitation will be in all forms: first rain, then wet snow, then snow, increased wind up to 15-17 m / s, which means a blizzard in the afternoon. In addition, sticking of wet snow is expected, ”said the weather forecaster.

He called the expected weather "completely uncomfortable."

“It is the one they say that a good owner will not drive a dog out into the street,” he said.

Villefand also said that a temporary snow cover of no more than two centimeters can be established, which will melt by the end of the week.

Commenting on the upcoming weather changes, the chief specialist of the Moscow Meteuro Bureau Tatyana Pozdnyakova explained that the reason for the cooling will be the approach of the atmospheric front, which will separate the two anticyclones.

“The warm cyclone goes to the north of Kazakhstan, and the crest of the anticyclone that formed over the North Atlantic extends to us. We will be in the zone of this atmospheric front for a long time. It is expected that the period of inclement and cold weather will be delayed for almost the entire week, ”said the weather forecaster.

According to her, on Monday night there will be precipitation in the form of wet snow, and later regular snow is also likely to appear with gusts of wind of about 15 meters per second.

“Significant changes in temperature can only be expected by the end of the week. The temperature will be even lower than the climatic norm already on Tuesday, ”concluded Pozdnyakova.

In turn, the head of the situational center of Roshydromet Yuri Varakin also linked the upcoming cooling with the approach of the atmospheric front. According to him, the temperature will fall by 10-15 degrees, and the lowest point of cold weather will fall between Tuesday and Wednesday.

“This is not an April Fool’s joke, but it will be the coldest night from March 31 to April 1. The temperature will be below normal by 3-4 degrees on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then there will be a slight increase, the temperature is about zero at night, ”said RT Varakin.

However, he is confident that by the upcoming weekend the temperature will rise, again returning to normal.

Temperature record

Today, March 29, an absolute temperature record was set in Moscow - the air warmed up to +17.4 ° С. According to the Hydrometeorological Center, the closest result was recorded in 2007, when the temperature on this day reached +16.5 ° С.

However, these days residents of the capital are being urged to stay home in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on the eve summed up the first of nine non-working days. He admitted that many people went to city parks, but indicated that there were significantly fewer of them than under normal conditions.

“So, only 52 thousand people visited city parks on Saturday, which is several times less than on a regular weekend. Many people could be seen in the natural territories, ”the mayor wrote on his blog.

Amid these events, Muscovites are actively urged to stay at home. Emergency officers in cars using loudspeakers urge residents to leave parks and squares of the city.

“In order to avoid infection with coronavirus infection, we ask you to limit your stay in fenced areas, avoid crowded places for walking, keep a social distance of two meters,” one of the messages read out by the announcer sounds.
