Alerted by numerous calls from health professionals, the government wants to increase the number of intensive care beds to "14 to 14,500", down from 5,000 initially, to cope with the influx of patients caused by the coronavirus epidemic, said Saturday, Olivier Véran.

"France's initial capacities were 5,000 resuscitation beds. They have been increased (...) to 10,000 beds. From now on, we want to reach a target of 14,000 to 14,500 resuscitation beds throughout the national territory," said the Minister of Health at a press conference alongside Edouard Philippe.
