Olle Holmquist started as a musician already in the 1940s and has played with a large number of Swedish artists, including Alice Babs, Monica Zetterlund, Povel Ramel and Tommy Körberg. He also played for many years in the Melodifestiv Orchestra and has performed and recorded with many international artists such as Frank Sinatra and Jerry Lewis.
His nephew Michael Jonsson tells Expressen that Olle Holmquist lived in a care home when he was infected by the coronavirus.
- It is terrible with this disease that affects the weakest in society. Olle was hopeless when the virus hit him because he was rather weak, Michael Jonsson told Expressen.

Olle Holmquist was a great inspiration for Anders G Carlsson who remembers a style-forming musician and an elegant man.
- He played the trombone and was hip at the same time, it does not belong to the usual. He was a glassy, elegant and hip man who played the shirt of us all, he says.
