500 ml bottles will be produced in priority - Groupe Arthes

  • In Grasse, a perfumer will produce 30,000 bottles of hydroalcoholic gel per day.
  • They will be dispatched to Paca hospitals, among the national police force and also in stores of the large distribution.
  • The Arthes company will also continue to manufacture liquid soap.

In an emergency, the production lines were adapted. As of Thursday afternoon, the Arthes company will almost completely drop the perfume while the crisis lasts. To participate in the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus, this company in Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes) will produce hydroalcoholic gel in industrial quantities.

"We will be able to take out 20,000 500ml bottles per day and, as of next week, 30,000 daily units with also smaller formats", explains the CEO of this family business created in 1978 in the city of perfumes.

For hospitals, police and large areas

"It was the mayor, president of the board of directors of the Grasse hospital who had the idea to contact us so that we could intervene to deal with the shortage of frost," says Thibaud Perrin. The initiative, which was originally intended to serve hospitals in the department, benefited from significant word of mouth.

The disinfectant bottles will also be dispatched to hospitals in Bouches-du-Rhône, to the Ministry of the Interior, for the national police, in certain local authorities and also, among other things, in large retail stores. , which are also out of stock.

“The difficulty was finding enough plastic bottles. I have to go until the end of May. I'm trying to place new orders, "says the CEO. No problem, however, for raw materials "since we already use a lot of alcohol for our perfumes," he says. And to specify: "Our supplier will supply us to pass 10,000 l per day".

Arthes will continue to produce liquid soap

This new production will mobilize, "as long as it takes", 95 people out of 150 at the Arthes group factory in Grasse. "Seventeen of our employees are teleworking and the rest have been placed on partial unemployment," says Thibaud Perrin.

The company, which distributes the Jeanne Arthes and Jeanne en Provence brands, has put aside the manufacturing of perfumes and cosmetics for a few months, "except for liquid soap which is always in great demand", explains Thibaud Perrin. With hydroalcoholic gel, it will represent more than 80% of total production.

Arthes, which indicates that it has donated a pallet of equipment (masks, gloves, protective gown) to Grasse hospital, will sell its bottles of disinfectant at prices set by the government and ensures that it "will pay its suppliers in time and hour ”.
