• Discover: Eight emerging destinations in the US that should not escape your radar
  • Nature.USA has a new national park and it's amazing

From the wildest Alaska to the caves of the Chihuahua desert in New Mexico. There are those who have wonderful views from their window, but if this is not the case and you want to change the air, it is worth taking a look at these landscapes that Mother Nature offers us.

This is an initiative of the American National Park Service and Google Arts & Culture, the Cultural Institute of the Mountain View search engine. The sample covers five spaces distributed throughout the country and very disparate in terms of climate and ecosystems.

The Kenai Fjords NP (Alaska)

This virtual tour allows you to explore the glaciers, fjords, and icebergs of this park around the Harding Ice Field , an icy blanket covering some 2,000 square kilometers, and one of Alaska's most impenetrable wilderness areas. We are facing a white paradise that, from the sofa, we can explore by kayak, paddling between majestic blocks of ice. We will also be able to reach the Exit Glacier by road, something unthinkable in reality at this time of year, and descend through one of its intimidating cracks with the help of a ranger who dominates the territory.

Hawaii Volcanoes NP

Have you ever explored a volcano inside? It is what allows this virtual tour of one of the most enigmatic parks on the planet. The Hawaiian dive invites you to walk through a tube of lava , the veins of an erupting volcano. Also to contemplate the Pacific cliffs that lava forms when it spills into the sea. And you can even fly over the famous Kilauea , which last erupted in 2018 and holds the title of the most active volcano in the world.

Carlsbad Caverns NP (New Mexico)

We now travel to the Chihuahua desert and the Guadalupe Mountains in southeastern New Mexico. This park hides a hundred incredible caves and the virtual tour allows you to descend into its depths. In addition to the walk through its caverns (one of them as large as six soccer fields) and rock formations, we can closely observe its numerous inhabitants, the thousands of bats that many will surely prefer to see from the sofa than in situ. The sound they make in the dark is disturbing.

Bryce Canyon PN (Utah)

This is a unique place on our planet. A desert landscape full of hoodoos , those deep red and orange fairy chimneys chiseled by erosion. Utah Park is also famous for the darkness of its nights and is certified as one of the best places in the world to see the stars . Hence, on this occasion, the virtual tour allows us to enter this magical setting by day and by night.

PN Dry Tortugas (Florida)

And from the desert to these seven islands in the Gulf of Mexico known for the wealth of marine life and the variety of birds, as well as for the legends of pirates and sunken treasures. To locate ourselves, we are more than a hundred kilometers from Key West. That is, in the absence of a boat, the virtual visit is appreciated. On this occasion, a stroll through the historic Fort Jefferson awaits us and, even more interesting, an immersion in these waters and a snorkeling session through the third largest coral reef in the world. You can even dive to observe the Windjamme r wreck, sunk in these waters in 1907.
