“The seismic event occurred on Wednesday at 14:49 local time (5:49 Moscow time). Its focus lies at a depth of 50 km. The epicenter was located 226 km southeast of the city of Severo-Kurilsk, 438 km south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, ”the report said.
It is specified that in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky tremors were felt with a strength of about five points: objects fell on the premises, furniture swayed.
An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was previously reported in southwestern Mongolia.
