According to his son-in-law, he "died in his sleep at his home in Neuilly from a heart attack unrelated to the coronavirus. He had been very tired for several weeks. ”

Born Alberto Aleandro Uderzo, he passed into posterity giving birth to the character of Asterix. Between 1959 and 1977, he designed twenty-four albums of the Gallic hero, scripted by Goscinny. In 1980, he took over the saga alone, for eight albums.

Published in 111 languages ​​and dialects, Asterix is ​​the most translated comic strip in the world.
