Singer R. Kelly - HA Collection / VISUAL Press Agency

R. Kelly will have to wait before she can continue working on her defense with her lawyers. Indeed, the Chicago prison in which the singer is imprisoned has suspended visits for the next 30 days due to the epidemic of coronavirus which affects the city.

The lawyers tried, in vain, to see their client a little over a week ago. However, TMZ states that certain legal meetings would be authorized on a case-by-case basis. Until the end of the crisis, the interpreter of I Believe I Can Fly will have to settle for the phone.

Cascade trials

Coronavirus or not, R. Kelly's lawyers will have a hard time getting him out of the thick of the many trials that await him. Indeed, the singer, accused of sexual abuse of minors, racketeering and corruption, must be tried in several states.

A first trial is to be held in Chicago on April 27, but it is likely to be postponed, effectively delaying a New York court scheduled for July 7.
