The Saudi Public Prosecution announced today that it issued an arrest warrant for two people who appeared in video clips as they drank sterilizing liquid, on the pretext that it was preventing infection with the emerging coronavirus.

The prosecution said in a tweet on Twitter that it "directed the arrest of two people at noon in a video while they were drinking liquid for one of the types of sterilizers that are not fit for human consumption to mislead it from protecting SK."

Videos in which the two youths appeared separately, drinking a sterilizer, were outraged on social media. One of the commentators on "Twitter" demanded that "the maximum penalties" be imposed on the two youths, considering that they endanger the lives of others.

Saudi Arabia has recorded 274 cases of the virus so far, according to figures issued by the Ministry of Health, while more than a thousand cases of HIV were recorded in the six Gulf states.
