Chinanews client Beijing March 21 (Reporter Shangguan Yun) "I want to create a paper-cut work of" Wuhan Defence War "after the epidemic is over, to record this epidemic prevention and control fight in Wuhan." Recently, Wuhan Mao Yueming, the inheritor of the paper-cut city-level intangible cultural heritage, said in an interview with a reporter from China News.

"Come on in Wuhan!"

After Wuhan closed the city, watching everyone cheering for Wuhan, Mao Mingyue also wanted to do something for the epidemic. After much thought, he was determined to express all this in the form of paper-cut art.

In Wuhan's paper-cut art circle, Mao Mingyue is famous. He suffered from polio at an early age and had difficulty moving. In the 1990s, he once lived by writing signboards and drawing boards. He later learned paper-cutting skills with Liu Shibiao, the paper-cutting heir from Wuhan. He has created many outstanding works for more than 20 years .

Several carving knives, a wax dish, and sometimes using scissors ... It seems simple, but the creative process of paper cutting in Wuhan is not easy. When should I use any kind of carving knife?

"When conceiving the first work, I mainly designed two characters." Among these two characters, one represents the citizens of Wuhan and raised his fists with a firm expression; one represented the medical staff and looked ahead. Mao Mingyue said that Wuhan Yellow Crane Tower was selected as the background.

It took more than an hour for Mao Mingyue to complete the work and named it "Wuhan Come". Later, he posted "Wuhan Come on" in the circle of friends. "It was sent because of feelings. This work was completed very quickly and got the praise and attention of friends."

"Wuhan has always been a heroic city. With the support of the whole country and everyone, Wuhan will definitely pass the customs!" Earlier, Zhong Nanshan, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said in tears in an interview with the media.

When Mao Mingyue in Wuhan heard this sentence, his eye circles were red, "I was so shocked, so I created a paper-cut work based on this photo of Academician Zhong."

His works also recorded many stories and scenes in the fight against the "epidemic". "Waiting for Your Return" and "Grateful Heart" thank the medical staff for their efforts; "China Speed" pays tribute to the builders of the Volcano God Hospital ...

Mao Mingyue is a Wuhan native, and he has a deeper understanding of the epidemic than artists in other places. "I hope to use non-heritage paper-cut works to convey people's confidence in 'anti-epidemic' and inspire everyone." He said, "As a non-hereditary inheritor, it is right to create works that resonate with the times."

Create portraits for medical team members

In total, from January 23 to the present, Mao Mingyue has created a total of 26 works, including 11 paper-cuts of portraits created for members of the Henan medical team supporting the Qingshan District of Wuhan.

"In fact, what impressed me most was creating paper cuts for the medical team. Because they are all wearing masks, I tried to show their eyes when I created." Mao Mingyue explained.

Creating paper cuts is not as easy as you think. The size, sharpness of the scissors, and the shape of the knife are all particular. A piece of paper-cutting work comes out through many processes such as sketching, final binding, cutting, mounting, etc.

After four days of intense creation, he completed 11 works. "It can be said that it is the touching deeds of the medical staff, which inspired me to speed up the" creation speed. "

In addition, he also created a "Diary of the War" epidemic in the form of a comic strip with paper-cut art, which showed the confidence of Wuhan people in defeating the epidemic in the nationwide assistance.

From drawing to engraving, Mao Mingyue's "anti-epidemic" theme paper-cutting is all done by hand. "Only in this way can I integrate my emotions into the work."

Expectations after the epidemic

After the outbreak, Mao Mingyue stayed at home, leaving most of his time for creation except for the necessary rest. Usually, one of the things he must do every day is to look at the reports of the epidemic, hoping that the epidemic will end soon.

"Because of my physical disability and the need to abduct, I am not convenient to go out, otherwise I will definitely sign up as a volunteer." Mao Mingyue will always pay attention to the information in the community group buying WeChat group, and also feel the changes in the emotions of the residents in this community. Everyone is a little anxious at times, and now I am more optimistic. I buy various items every day, discuss cooking skills and exchange experiences in taking care of children. "

"The community also takes good care of the needy families, because I have a severe physical disability. During this time, the community sent me fish, meat, eggs, rice, oil and other items for free, and life was basically no problem." Mao Mingyue said.

"To be honest, I am grateful for the hard work of medical staff, community workers, and volunteers." Mao Mingyue said that he wanted to create a paper-cut work of "Wuhan Defense" after the epidemic, and use paper-cut art to record Wuhan This outbreak prevention and control fight. (Finish)
