Each episode of the new season of Koh Lanta continues to offer TF1 first place in Friday evening audiences. In replay, the first episode was also seen by more than 1.07 million people. A record. With this Friday's episode, which promises to be rich in surprises, the fervor should not be denied. Especially since it is broadcast in a France living at the time of confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic. The opportunity for 20 Minutes to meet with the presenter Denis Brogniart.

How are you ?

I am fortunate to experience containment in good conditions, since I have a house with a large garden and next to a forest where I can go jogging and stretch my legs once a day. It is a special moment but it is also a time when we meet with family, which is ultimately quite rare. We don't move, we don't take the car. I do not ask myself the question, I did not wait until I was asked to be confined to do so. Since last Friday, I have understood that it was inevitable. My children, like my wife, we do not move.

On social networks, you do not fail to call your subscribers to respect the confinement instructions.

What is incredible is that there are few reasons and moments in life when one does not have to think and say to oneself "I am of such political edge, I have such sensitivity, such experience … ”. There, whether one is a polytechnician or one who has not studied, whether one is an army chief, an executive or a worker, we are in the same situation: at an instant T, we are asked to be confined to where we usually live. There is no need to think. We must stay with us. Once we understand these words, we stay at home and tell ourselves that the more we do what we are asked to do, the less time it will last. The prospect of being confined for as short a time as possible is best. Might as well do it, otherwise it will last for weeks, months.

Friends, as @EmmanuelMacron said yesterday, we can exercise alone. And believe me, it feels great. Good for body and head. Courage to all. I kiss you. #RESTEZCHEZUSUS # COVID2019 pic.twitter.com/W8i8vBdPFS

Some are not fully aware of it…

I am shocked by the reaction of some, that people explain that they do not care about the coronavirus because they are young ... Think of our parents, our grandparents, the most fragile. Let's take a look at what's going on not far from home, in Italy. I really liked Emmanuel Macron's formula, when he said: "We are at war". Clearly, this is a health war that must be won. I also like the formula saying that our grandparents were asked to go to war, to the front, while we are asked to stay at home to eradicate the virus. It is, it must be recognized, much less perilous.

Will the current situation have a significant impact on the organization of the next casting of "Koh Lanta"?

We are working on it. What is certain is that the cast will adapt to the situation. We will accept applications by email and postpone until April 17. This answers the question of a lot of Internet users. These are nice prospects for a lot of people who dream of participating in Koh Lanta . Those who have not yet had time to complete the file will be able to do so. All the terms and conditions can be found on the MyTF1 site.

The last season is being broadcast, can we talk about "open containment"?

No, it's a bit strong. We must not speak of confinement but of isolation. I no longer want to talk about Koh Lanta as a nice parenthesis. I repeat it for twenty years, this emission, it is a journey by proxy each Friday evening. There, in this configuration of confinement, it will also allow people to relax and identify with these adventurers who lived this adventure a few months ago when we could jump in the arms, kiss, live everything quite normally. On social networks, the public requests to have two episodes per week, one daily. There are some great programs like this that will tie people back to their "normal" lives. If, through Koh Lanta , adventurers can play this role of aerators in this confined world, it will be great. For having seen and lived this season, I am certain that it can give people the leisure to discuss it on the networks, at home, with their loved ones by phone, by Skype, by WhatsApp, to stay hooked to some meetings of their usual life.

This season is particularly rich in twists and turns. The first episode is already cult and on social networks you suggested that Internet users be on the appointment this Friday evening. Are there going to be any surprises?

Koh Lanta is an extremely demanding and complex adventure. Everything is going very fast. Those who were thought to be untouchable are not. The proof: Teheiura was eliminated last week. What I said on social networks and that I maintain is that you are obviously not at the end of your surprises. I want to say that there are surprises in all the episodes, until the end. It is a string of twists, hard knocks and strong blows.

While the elimination of Tehuri is a real shock, the balance threatens the 2 teams! The storm invites itself in turn on the camp ... Nothing is going well on #KohLanta!

The elimination of Teheiura has angered many viewers ...

If I put aside the insults, and I weigh my words, unacceptable and liable to some for a legal complaint for some, I am very impressed to see how passionate viewers live Koh Lanta. People do not understand that an Ahmad could have eliminated a Teheiura but I understand why he did it. Let's not forget that Koh Lanta is not a game reserved for super champions of survival and trials because if that was it, from the first episode we could say ok, there are twenty but there are none has only five who can win. It is also a strategy game. Ahmad tries to be to strategy what Claude is to trials, what Teheiura is to survival. If Teheiura had been super strong in strategy, he would have felt it coming and perhaps he could have turned the situation around.
