Since Thursday, all events with more than 500 people have had to be canceled due to the spread of the new corona virus, which affects cultural workers in several industries.

On Monday, Social Security Minister Ardalan Shekarabi (S), Labor Minister Eva Nordmark (S) and Minister of Culture Amanda Lind (MP) met representatives of several cultural organizations who gave their views on what the government needs to do to help an industry in crisis.

- It was very rewarding and important for me and the other ministers to meet these players and get a better picture of how the situation with the corona virus affects the industries, but also in particular the freelancers and self-employed people who work in the cultural sector, says Amanda Lind.

"No proposals are currently excluded"

What comments do you have on the proposed measures?

- This morning, the Government branch presented a powerful package on the occasion of the corona virus, for example that companies and self-employed persons will be allowed to postpone their tax payments in the coming years, also retroactively from January, says Amanda Lind.

The Minister of Culture says that a number of other proposals have been discussed and that the government will continue to analyze various proposals.

- We are turning on all stones, no proposals are currently excluded. This is a very serious situation and we continue to look at different forms of action, ”says Amanda Lind.
