The shooting of Competencia Oficial with Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas which takes place in Spain has just been suspended. In a press release relayed by Variety, the giant of the Iberian cinematographic production, Mediapro Studio, declared to act for the safety of its teams.
A decision that seems inevitable when Madrid announced the closure of schools in the country last Monday to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. "We hope that production will resume as soon as possible while ensuring the safety of the team members," the press release continued.
Big stakes
The shooting of Competencia Oficial had started at the end of January in the Madrid region and was due to end in April. It is one of the biggest Spanish-speaking productions of the moment, involving a huge financial effort for Mediapro Studio.
