Turkey recorded its first case of coronavirus on Tuesday. He is a man who has recently traveled to Europe and whose state of health is "good", according to a statement by the Turkish Minister of Health on Wednesday. However, he refused to specify in which Turkish city he was hospitalized.
The patient's family and relatives were placed under observation. Turkey has more than 80 million inhabitants. A very touristy country, it welcomed some 50 million visitors in 2019.
Many precautions already taken
Thermal imaging cameras at airports, canceled flights, land border with Iran closed: in recent weeks, Turkey has announced a whole series of measures to protect itself from the coronavirus epidemic. Hospitals have been specially set up in Istanbul and Ankara to test and quarantine patients suspected of being infected.
