[Live] Zhou Xiaoyang chats with colleagues over lunch

Around the beginning of the Spring Festival, when doing sanitation, no one was doing sanitation, many people were gone, and no one was delivering meals. It was very hard at that time.

[Explanation] For Zhou Xiaoyang, the Spring Festival in 2020 will make his life unforgettable. Zhou Xiaoyang is the CCU director of the East Hospital of the People's Hospital of Wuhan University. Since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia outbreak, he has led more than 20 medical staff in the department to adhere to the front line, cure diseases and save people. On February 1, his hospital received an order to change to a designated hospital for critically ill patients with new coronary pneumonia.

The really difficult time for me should be January 31st. When we suddenly opened for admission, a lot of critically ill patients came at once, and we had to be rescued at first, and some of them were not able to collect all the information. Our ventilator is not as much as it is now, so in this case, it is equivalent to playing an encounter. In our imagination, this patient came one by one, and then after we came, we still had enough time to give him a full discussion and treatment. This was beyond our expectations.

[Explanation] The epidemic situation is fierce, with a large number of patients and a critical condition, and medical supplies such as ventilator and protective clothing are in short supply. In the early stages of the epidemic, all medical staff faced unprecedented pressure.

On the first weekend, it was equivalent to saying that three people had died, so we thought psychologically that this was a hurdle. At that time, I had a doctor underneath, and I could n’t bear it. I cried when I called. So, thinking of this problem, he could not bear the nightmares physically, so I let him rest for a week. Then I also constantly adjusted myself at that time. I want to show that we are still very strong in front of the doctors below us.

[Explanation] In view of the severe epidemic situation, on the eve of New Year's Eve, the hospital decided to cancel the Spring Festival holiday. In order to save energy for future anti-epidemic work, Zhou Xiaoyang arranged the doctors on duty to stay on duty at home and keep the phone open for 24 hours. However, he did not take a day off. During the day, he led the doctor on duty to check the room, and slept on the sofa in the office at night. Since mid-January, he has never entered the house again.

There was a half-day between me, because I did n’t stock this kind of vegetable at home, and there was a half-day Xinjiang (medical) team at the time. When I was with them, I took a half-day leave, and went to Metro. The line is too long, I do n’t have time, and I do n’t want to line up there. Later, I went to the freezer and picked the corn kernels, the big bales, and then the green beans, and I picked I picked a lot of them, and I sent them home. I didn't go home, I just handed them over at the door of my house and I came over right away.

[Explanation] Zhou Xiaoyang said that after nearly two months of hard work, the epidemic situation has improved markedly, and the number of newly-increased cases in Wuhan has steadily decreased, but he should still be cautious. He believes that as long as he remains optimistic and continues to work, It will usher in the victory of the epidemic.

Because now I obviously feel that when I go to consultations in each ward of our hospital, I feel that the beds in some wards have begun to loose and there is a bed waiting for patients. In our hospital's headquarters, the fever clinic has been closed. The preparation is to turn into a normal outpatient clinic to receive some other patients. Therefore, according to this trend, the number of new cases in Wuhan is also steadily decreasing. I think it's time for us to be cautiously optimistic. We should still be optimistic.
