Kawkab Al Sharq, the lady of Arab singing, Umm Kulthum, lit the stage of the Egyptian Opera House Friday evening, nearly 45 years after her departure, during a ceremony that embodied her image for the first time in Egypt using hologram technology.

At the entrance to the Grand Theater in the opera center in central Cairo, a model of a large golden shield, bearing the image of the Egyptian singer, was written under it: "Planet of the East, Umm Kulthum 2020".

As the stage was removed from the stage, a light aura appeared in the middle of it, and it turned into a three-dimensional image of Umm Kulthum, until the audience began to clap with heart.

Umm Kulthum appeared in a bright purple dress, carried in the middle of a shiny ornament, and held her famous scarf in her hand.

The stage was filled with its end, and the men, women and youth attendees wore formal evening gowns, as if it was a real lyrical evening for Umm Kulthum going back to the past.

The show was for 15 minutes, and Umm Kulthum sang a section of one of her famous songs, "He puzzled my heart with you", whose lyrics were written by the Egyptian poet Ahmed Rami and composed by Riyad Al-Sanbati.

"I came today because I have always dreamed of attending a Umm Kulthum party," Aya Yassin, assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, told AFP.

"My grandmother used to talk to me about the famous Thursday concerts of Umm Kulthum, which made me very interested in attending."

Umm Kulthum or Fatima Ibrahim Al-Beltagy was born in December 1898 in the village of Tamay Al-Zahira in the Dakahlia Governorate in the Nile Delta.

She began her artistic career when she was young, when she was seeking religious prayers with her father and brother, until she was discovered by Sheikh Zakaria Ahmed and Abu El-Ella Mohamed, who are two of the major composers of Arab music in Egypt.

And Umm Kulthum remains more than four decades after her death, the most famous icon of Arab music ever. And her voice is still being heard widely throughout the Arab world and the world.

It is noteworthy that the Friday ceremony was not the first appearance of its kind by Umm Kulthum, as planet East appeared on stage twice last year thanks to hologram technology in Saudi Arabia, then in Dubai.
