The 6MIC concert hall and its architecture. - 6MIC

  • A new current music room, 6MIC, is inaugurated this weekend in Aix-en-Provence.
  • It will give pride of place to different musical styles, from rap to reggae, including French songs, or electro.

The Aixois will be served. A new current music room, 6MIC, will know its great beginnings, with a weekend of inaugural celebration. Located in the Jas-de-Bouffan district of Aix-en-Provence, the new room is made up of different universes: a room with 800 seats, another with 2,000, but also a patio, an outdoor terrace, studios and desks.

The evenings of the opening weekend are already full, proof of the expectation of this new hall in a city that has largely been caught up, and even outstripped by Marseille in terms of musical programming. And in particular that of Worakls this Sunday, "associated artist who will tint the programming until June 2021", as explains Laurence Hebrard, co-director of the room.

"Not one aesthetic more represented than another"

Only concert available for this weekend, that of Damasio and Fred Nevché on March 8. But an enticing program is planned for the whole season, with in particular AYO on March 22, Catherine Ringer sings the Rita Mitsouko on April 11, Ben l'Oncle Soul on April 25, Ken Boothe on May 9 or Oxmo Puccino on May 27. Among others.

“There is not one aesthetic more represented than another. The programming until June is not yet very representative of the offer we will be offering, which will range from rap to reggae, including French songs, not forgetting electro, ”explains Laurence Hebrard. A room which should eventually become the largest current music room in France with its 5,500 m2, a label which should come after the first anniversary of opening, next year.
