"Raises the voices of individuals"

In Stig Dagerman's motivation, she emphasizes her desire to deepen and complicate the public conversation about power, powerlessness, politics and the individual.

"From within some of the world's most difficult conflict cures, she lifts the voices and experiences of individual people and sheds light on what many are trying to darken," the jury writes.

The Stig Dagerman Prize is awarded to persons or organizations who, in the spirit of Stig Dagerman, work to protect the free word. The prize amount is SEK 50,000 and this year the prize will be awarded on May 30 at a ceremony at Laxön in Älvkarleby.
