Sexist, Koh-Lanta ? On Monday, a report by the High Council for Gender Equality pointed to the sexist nature of certain TV shows, including the adventure game of TF1 (in particular the season broadcast in 2019). He evoked in particular the hypersexualized representation of the candidates, who evolve little dressed (in swimsuits), on the beach. Critics that Alexia Laroche-Joubert, the producer of Koh-Lanta , has trouble digesting.

Invited on Europe 1, she said she was "scandalized" by these accusations. "Since when do swimwear mean sexualization?" It seems to me that in summer, on the Basque coast, men and women are in swimsuits. What does it mean ? They want to dress women? There is a fundamental problem, that is to say that they make a judgment on the outfits chosen by the candidates, ”she exclaimed, as reported by TVMag. She also assured that the candidates were "free" to choose their outfits.

"There is systematically a woman and a man in the end"

Regarding parity, Alexia Laroche-Joubert clarified that “of all seasons, 113 events were won by women against 60-70 by men. Of the last six, there is systematically a woman and a man in the end. If there is indeed a program on which we highlight the parity… We are very careful about the way in which we structure the tests, for example with the famous bag test, women have a lighter weight precisely so that they can be real competitors ”. The producer also recalled that it was a 50-year-old woman, Maud, who won Koh-Lanta last year.

Finally, she said she asked for an appointment with Marlène Schiappa, who was given the report of the High Council for Gender Equality. "We cannot leave a report, which is partial and partial, which leaves something to be desired, to undermine a reference program, which is watched by one in two children, with values that make little girls see that when we want, we can and we win! ", She explains.
