His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, directed the establishment of the “Camel Journey Marathon”, which is dedicated to non-citizen participants, and include it on the agenda of the events of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Annual Heritage, thus becoming a periodic race organized every year during the Sheikh’s Festival Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, for authentic Arabian camels.
The announcement of the marathon, which will be held starting next year, came two weeks after the date of organizing the experimental version that was held last month, and was successful with the race, which was contested by 13 contestants from the desert knights, who joined previous versions of the "camel journey" organized by the center. In the context, the Executive Chairman of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for the Revival of Heritage, Abdullah Hamdan Bin Dalmouk, said: “In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the center will organize (Camel Journey Marathon) officially every year, and will be the door for participation It is open to all foreigners residing on the state’s land and visitors from abroad, without conditions or restrictions that limit their participation. The center will provide them with the necessary training for those wishing to learn to ride camel, and participate in this special marathon ». And before the marathon, the center will organize an experimental race that proves the competence of the person who registered for this marathon and its readiness to run.
Bin Dalmouk explained that «this marathon is unprecedented, and confirms the state’s march of excellence in all fields, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless him, in the early nineties supported a sports club in Germany to train in camel riding, and they made a wonderful offer In front of him in that period. Beta version prizes
The prizes for the experimental version of the marathon reached 350 thousand dirhams, and the honoring ceremony was held in the estate designated for training, and the winner of the first place won a car, while the rest of the contestants received cash prizes.
