Emergency Declaration ski resort closed this season.Makubetsu Town, Hokkaido February 29 13:48

The ski resort in Makubetsu-cho, Hokkaido, has stopped operating this season on March 29, following the announcement of an emergency declaration by Governor Suzuki of Hokkaido regarding the spread of the new coronavirus.

The Shiroganedai Ski Resort and Akenogaoka Ski Resort operated by Makubetsu-cho were canceled on the 29th.

Both ski resorts were scheduled to open until next month, but the decision was made in response to Governor Suzuki's announcement of an "emergency declaration" for the next month.

At Shiroganedai Ski Resort, a notice was posted at the lodge at the foot of the park, indicating that business was over, and there were almost no visitors on the 29th.

This ski resort has only recently begun operating on the 1st of this month due to lack of snow. Atsushi Honma, Chief of Makubetsu Chuchu General Branch, said, "I'm very sorry to stop the business just because the slope is in good condition."
