The World Health Organization denied the statement of the Jordanian Minister of Health, Saad Jaber, that shemagh (the traditional head covering in the Levant) obviates the use of the muzzle in the face of the Corona epidemic.

Jaber had said a few days ago, that wearing shemagh sings for muzzle in the prevention of corona virus, adding in an intervention on Jordanian television, that “the National Committee and the medical teams we have say that the shemagh is as effective as the muzzle ... Let us go back to our origins and wear the shemagh.”

He added that the shemagh sings about the muzzle while washing and sterilizing, explaining that the goal of the muzzle is to protect the people around you and not protect you (from infection).

But the BBC's "Trending" program quoted the World Health Organization as confirming that the words of Minister Jaber were incorrect.

And the organization added that "the scarf is ineffective, as medical masks are not made from the normal fabrics from which the clothes are made."
