China News Network, Ningbo, February 28th (Apprentice reporter Li Dian, correspondent Lu Yucen Wei) With the rise of "alternative pets" in recent years, many people have taken the risk and bought and raised wild animals. On the 28th, the Cixi Municipal People's Court in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, opened a court hearing on a case of illegal acquisition of precious and endangered wildlife through multiple remote videos. Among them, the defendant Shimou was sentenced to 8 months' imprisonment, a suspended sentence of 1 year, and a fine of 5,000 yuan for buying wild gold pythons online.

It is understood that "post-95s" Ningbo Cixi guy Shimou is a "python fan". In May 2019, he contacted a seller via WeChat and spent 2,200 yuan to buy a golden python baby snake to raise at his own house.

After learning that the seller was arrested in Sichuan, in September 2019, Shi went to the local public security agency to surrender. Shi Mou said that he knew that the golden python was a national protected animal, but he liked pythons since he was a child, and he wanted to keep a pet. So, he found the seller on the Internet and bought the golden python snake at a cheap price.

Appraised by the relevant department, the golden boa purchased by Shimou belongs to the family Albinoidae Burmese Python. The Burmese python is listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. It was verified that the python was worth 5,000 yuan, and it had been handed over to the forest police for proper resettlement.

After hearing, the Cixi Municipal People's Court held that Shi's behavior has constituted a crime of illegally acquiring precious and endangered wildlife. In view of his voluntary surrender, he confessed his crime truthfully after the case was filed, and voluntarily pleaded guilty and pleaded guilty.

In the end, the first sentence of the court imposed a term of 8 months, a suspended sentence of 1 year, and a fine of 5,000 yuan. (Finish)
