Participants in the working group on preparing amendments to the Constitution, Senator Andrei Klishas and MP Pavel Krasheninnikov, introduced an amendment to the relevant State Duma committee on the date of the all-Russian vote to amend the country's basic law. According to the amendment, voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time on April 22, 2020. This day will be declared non-working. The date was approved by President Vladimir Putin. The Communist Party, by the way, supported by the liberal public, is extremely unhappy that the vote will take place on the birthday of Vladimir Lenin.

It is difficult to understand the Communists. Their reaction looks strange, since, on the contrary, the imposition of dates actualizes the image of the leader of the world proletariat. Refresh his memory. In addition, there is some symbolism. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that society should stop dividing into white and red. Therefore, those who maintain sympathy for Lenin will go to vote, believing that the day for the plebiscite was not chosen by chance - this is such a veiled tribute to respect.

The claims of the liberals, which were announced yesterday in social networks, are generally devoid of any logic. What is this Hekuba for them? They do not feel the slightest respect for the first leader of the Soviet state, and seized on the date simply as an excuse to put forward the next (absolutely ridiculous in the context of liberal discourse) accusations against the "bloody regime".

After the president’s message to the Federal Assembly, the State Duma, which already worked in the most efficient way, doubled, or even tripled, efforts to work out amendments to the Constitution as quickly as possible. It is no less than a change in the social and state system of the country. The solution of this problem imposes a special responsibility on deputies. I must say that the efficiency of the lower house of the Russian parliament is largely due to the speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who managed to debug the decision-making mechanism.

According to the results of the meeting of the working group on constitutional amendments, it can be confidently stated that Russia is taking an extremely important step, changing the trend towards reducing social benefits and guarantees, which has become an unspoken priority during the time of Boris Yeltsin. Indexation of pensions, the minimum wage, the right to affordable medical care, raising children in the spirit of traditional values - all this should be included in the new basic law.

The welfare state not only cares about the level of material well-being of citizens, it also shows utmost attention to cultural and moral issues.

This can be called a revival of the paternalistic tradition, which in Russia has deep roots.

The planned change in the balance of power branches increases the role and influence of the State Duma. This is fully consistent with the realities of today, since Vladimir Putin managed to restore the controllability of the power vertical that had been lost under Yeltsin - and now the presidential power can well share the gigantic powers pulled into its area if necessary. However, their concentration is not at all the merit of the current head of the Russian state. The Constitution adopted 27 years ago made Russia a state where the institution of the presidency had tremendous advantages over other branches of government.

There are a lot of amendments, and they apply to all spheres of life without exception. The deputies will have to work out them in a short time, since a plebiscite under the new Constitution will pass very soon. There is no doubt that, despite the absurd claims from political marginals, this incredibly significant amount of work will be completed on time.
