At about 7 a.m. on the same day, officers from the Hong Kong District Crime Squad of the Police arrested Li Zhiying at his Kadoorie Road apartment in Ho Man Tin and took him to the Kowloon City Police Station for further investigation. Li Zhuoren and Yang Sen were arrested at their homes in Mei Foo Sun Chuen and Baguio Bay, respectively.

The Hong Kong Police Force's Hong Kong Island Regional Chief Criminal Superintendent, Senior Superintendent Huang Dongguang introduced the case and pointed out that the police arrested three local men aged 63 to 72 on the 28th.
