Read moreThe reigning African champion, Esperance Tunis, definitely does not like playing against Zamalek. Two weeks after losing in the African Super Cup against the Egyptian club, the Tunisian team again lost 3-1, this time in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League.
The Esperantists, however, opened the scoring on a cross shot from Hamdou Elhouni (27th). But, in the process, Mohammed Ounnajem equalized for the "White Knights" with an incredible long shot. And, during the second period, the Cairotes gained the upper hand thanks to a half-volley by Achraf Bencharki (72nd) and a penalty by Mahmoud Alaa registered during the stoppages (90th + 4) and which could prove crucial for the return match, scheduled for March 6.

Helpless Mazembe
The other evening meeting was marked by a dramatic change. The Almighty Mazembe cracked on a goal from his ex-protégé, Ben Malango, who left last summer in Morocco despite the disagreement of the Congolese club. The attacking midfielder of Raja Casablanca found the fault from the 6th minute. Then Badr Benoun doubled the bet in the second period (79th). The “Ravens” will have to reverse the trend on March 7 in Lubumbashi.
