There is a second season of Experimensen , the AVROTROS program that comedian Stefano Keizers has already made a season for. "Bad news for my girlfriend, because I have gained an ambition," he says in conversation with NU.nl about his presentation ambitions.
Keizers would like to make more programs. "I prefer fiction for children, but it is hard to get a budget for that. I have been lobbying for it for years. Until then I do everything they want, hoping that eventually there will be room for it."
Would Keizers set aside his cabaret career for a full-time life as a presenter and television maker? "I think I would be less happy about presenting if I hadn't been in the theater, and vice versa. The television world is quite heavy and stressful and it is nice to know that I also have my own audience, that I initially attracting an audience in the theater. If things get worse in the TV field, I am less likely to have the idea: shit, my career is over. "
So far Keizers feels at home in the television world. "During the recording of Maestro (the conducting show in which he was a candidate, ed.) I noticed that many people doubt my sincerity, but are kind to me. Perhaps because I am a strange duck, I don't have it feeling that people are envious or hateful to me. I am seen as a kind of crazy man who is always standing in front of the supermarket, where everyone walks around with a bow.
Keizers wants to be "as accessible as possible", he explains. "I think it is important that people accept me as I am. Although it is nice to be approached with some fear, because then you are more in control."
In Experimensen , Keizers pays attention to facts, studies and research that he would like to know more about. He is assisted in this by panel members, who will include rapper Donnie and Wilfred Genee in the coming season.
Experimensen can be seen weekly from Monday 23 March at 21.25 at AVROTROS on NPO3.
