It is an unprecedented "investigation". The Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, announced on Wednesday the launch in March of a "major consultation to take into account the feelings of teachers", while discussions are taking place to increase their salaries in as part of the pension reform.

"We are going to do something completely new in March, a big Internet survey that will allow us, among the 850,000 teachers, to know both their feelings, their recommendations, their ideas, their will," said the Minister on France Inter.

An "anonymous" and "confidential" investigation conducted between March 3 and March 17

This "anonymous" and "confidential" investigation will be conducted between March 3 and March 17. "All the teachers will be able to say what they expect" of the development of their profession, assured Jean-Michel Blanquer.

Teachers are now concerned about the subject of remuneration. Discussions have been initiated with the unions, which should lead before the summer to a law for the programming of salary increases, as part of the pension reform. The Minister of Education has already indicated that teachers will earn "100 euros net" more each month from next year for those who are at the start of their careers.

"Professors are not hostile to the concept of merit"

He also repeatedly stated that part of the increases would be "on merit", which unions see as an affront. "When we make inquiries we often see that professors are not hostile to the concept of merit," said Jean-Michel Blanquer on Wednesday. Asked also about the continuous exams of the baccalaureate, the E3C, which were disturbed and had to be postponed in several establishments, notably in Ile-de-France, the minister put the troubles into perspective.

"Today there are between 50,000 and 70,000 copies out of 1.6 million copies" in total. "It is quite little," he said. Tests took place in particular at the start of this week. "There were a few incidents yesterday but it remains marginal," said the minister.
