At the microphone of Anne Roumanoff, the singer Antoine, recognizable by his mythical flower shirt, recounted his love at first sight with this garment, 55 years ago, at the time when the Hawaiian shirt for men did not yet exist .

TESTIMONY

If there is one element that embodies the singer Antoine, it is his flower shirt. At Anne Roumanoff's microphone, he said on Tuesday his love at first sight for this item of clothing, which has not left him since 1965. It all started in Grenoble, around Christmas time. "With my girlfriend at the time, I went to spend a little sensual vacation in my parents' apartment that was not there. One day, we leave the apartment and we pass a Les Nouvelles Galeries store where there were not floral shirts for men, because it did not exist, but a corsage, "recalls Antoine.

From the yellow pea coat to the flowered shirt

On the advice of his girlfriend at the time, he buys the blouse, without thinking that his manager would be seduced by this garment. "When I took the photos of my first album, he said to me: 'Your shirt is great, you have to put it on for the photo'," says Antoine, who then managed to "slide a reference to the flowered shirt in a verse from his song Les Élucubrations ".

During a trip around the world at sea, "almost fifty years ago", Antoine, who wore "navy blue, a turtleneck and a yellow pea coat", then had a revelation. "I arrived in Tahiti and since then I have never left the flower shirts," explains the singer.
