The first reactions to the death of ex-President Hosni Mubarak came from neighboring countries.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, 84, also paid tribute to Hosni Mubarak, whose death he learned of "with great sadness". Military funeral

Hosni Mubarak, who died on Tuesday at the age of 91, had succeeded in 1981 President Anouar al-Sadat, who made Egypt the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel, before Jordan which did so in 1994.
