[Explanation] The Vulcan Mountain Hospital, located on the bank of Zhiyin Lake in Caidian District, Wuhan City, has a total of 1,000 beds, which are managed and used by the Hubei Medical Team supported by the army.

[Explanation] On February 22, the reporter followed Dong Yuchao, the director of the second ward and the first ward of the Infection Division of Vulcan Mountain Hospital, into the ward of Vulcan Mountain Hospital.

[Contemporary] Dong Yuchao, director of the second department and one ward of infection at Vulcan Mountain Hospital:

Although Vulcan Mountain Hospital is a temporary hospital, we have all the functions needed to start the hospital work.

[Explanation] Wear protective equipment. Under the leadership of Dong Yuchao, the reporter passed dozens of protective doors before entering the outer corridor and isolation ward called the "Red Zone". Since the Vulcan Mountain Hospital was put into use, Dong Yuchao's ward has admitted 60 patients. Daily routine rounds are a required course for Dong Yuchao and his colleagues.

[Concurrent] Patient: Thank you, thank you, (medical staff) We are meticulous and responsive. It's pretty good, we really appreciate it, thank the PLA, we have peace of mind when everything is there.

[Contemporary] The reporter saw that the air-conditioning, television, and other equipment are readily available in the ward. The room also has multiple functions such as WiFi, intelligent alarm, and medical intercom. There are two or three beds in the ward, and there is an observation window and a transmission window.

[Contemporary] Dong Yuchao, director of the second department and one ward of infection at Vulcan Mountain Hospital:

Our inner corridor is a semi-polluted area, and the ward is a polluted area. At this point, we also pass materials through this special two-door window. For example, the lunch of the patient at noon, we put it here, and let the patient open the door over there to take it by themselves. As you can see, there is also a UV disinfection lamp in this window. Even after the patient has taken things, the residual virus can be killed by UV.

[Explanation] According to Dong Yuchao, each ward is equipped with an oxygen supply system and a negative pressure suction system, and a fresh air exhaust system is also set up.

[Contemporary] Dong Yuchao, director of the second department and one ward of infection at Vulcan Mountain Hospital:

You can look at the fresh and clean air outside, and send it to our ward from this window, and then at both ends of the ward, you can see that there is a pipe hanging below it. Then the air in the ward will be drawn back from this duct and drawn back. After it is pumped out, it is processed again before being discharged into the atmosphere. In this case, we prevent the free circulation of air in and out of the ward. The ward relatively forms a relatively negative pressure environment, and the extracted gas is also treated to a certain extent, which reduces the impact of the ward on the outside world.

[Explanation] Since arriving in Wuhan with the team on January 25, Dong Yuchao and his comrades have been fighting on the front line. Dong Yuchao said that working in it for several hours is more tiring and more dangerous than walking a mountain road carrying 40 kg of medical supplies during the earthquake relief. But even so, all medical staff will be upset when they enter the working state.

[Contemporary] Dong Yuchao, director of the second department and one ward of infection at Vulcan Mountain Hospital:

As a soldier and a doctor, our dual responsibilities require us to rush forward at such times. Our team also proposed such a slogan to be zero infection. Through the zero infection of our medical staff, it is truly like the publicity of society to propagate a kind of confidence to defeat the disease, and transfer a kind of true positive energy.

[Explanation] On the 22nd, 71 patients with new crown pneumonia were cured and discharged from the gate of Vulcan Mountain Hospital. This is also the largest number of discharges since the establishment of Vulcan Mountain Hospital.
