In 1998, Nanne Grönvall booted into the stage of the Melodifestival dressed in an angry elf. The iconic costume with the pointed ears and the hit "Envy" is something she has been associated with ever since.

- I think it was the first time an artist did something so theatrical in the Melodifestivalen. I had a terrible stage fright then. I had been told that "girls cannot make a joke in the Melodifestivalen". Then I felt I wanted to show them, she says.

In 2003, she was back in the Melody Festival with "Eternal Love", a discooper where she would represent a ravishing baroque inspired dress. However, the grant did not advance to the final.

- There maybe I would decide for either or, either the mask or corset. The first mistake I made was putting the corset up and down. Camilla Thulin who stitched it heard but by then the program had already aired.

Sweden's Lady Gaga

Nanne Grönvall has over the years dressed in most equipment. We asked her if she sees herself as Sweden's Lady Gaga.

- Lol! I have in common with her that I like to change characters and take out the turns. It's the theater monkey in me. The costume store always needs to be expanded.

This year she puts on the raggar pop song "Carpool Karaoke", a tribute to the British TV profile James Corden's popular program where he drives around and screams along with great artists.

- I love the simplicity of that program. They run the guest songs, and there is so much heart and joy in it.

"Don't want to back"

It is thirteen years since Nanne Grönvall was in the Melodifestivalen last. If you look at the facts for the female veterans who have put up in recent years, you can see that most people went out badly. Kikki Danielsson. Ann-Louise Hansson. Arja Saijonmaa.

- I've got the question "dare you stand up again considering that things have not been going well for established older women? For me it is even more important not to back then. It is important that we older women continue to signal that no one should punch holes in your dreams no matter how it goes.
