Newspaper subscription refused and attempt to set fire Arrest of a former employee of a newspaper store Arrested on 21 February 11:45

A former employee of a newspaper shop in Adachi-ku, Tokyo, was arrested for trying to light an apartment in a hurry to refuse to subscribe to newspapers.

The arrested was Daisuke Hoshi, a 33-year-old employee from Adachi City.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, in April 2016, four years ago, an attempt was made to light an apartment in Adachi, Adachi-ku, using a writer and newspaper, and there was a suspicion of an attempted arson as part of the wall was burned.

At that time, Hoshi was an employee of a newspaper shop handling multiple newspapers, and had previously visited the apartment on site by invitation to subscribe. In response to the investigation, he said that he was irritated by having refused to subscribe and set it on fire.

DNA is detected from cigarette butts found at the site, and the same DNA is found in the butts at other suspicious fire sites that occurred nearby.

The Metropolitan Police Department has decided to proceed with the investigation on the suspicion that the arson has been repeated.
