Why this book?
- Because Erika Boyer likes to tackle taboo subjects to mix his characters in infernal spiral. But she always does it with great tact and kindness. This is still the case even if the approach is different. I prefer not to divulge the themes, even if there is a warning note at the beginning of the novel. Just know that the torment awaits you, but you will also hover and go far into the meanders of the human spirit.
- Because this first opus offers us a rather dark story. Already, the point of view is 100% masculine. Sandy ... I'm coming very slowly to tell you about Sandy. I would not want to spoil the pleasure of discovering this entire character, without pretense, perfect in its imperfection. Sandy is lost, he drifts, he becomes brutal in all his addictions. Sandy is loyal even if he depreciates a lot. Sandy is an extraordinary hero. I could tell you that he is a tortured man and it is, but you would amalgamate with other tortured heroes, except that Sandy is unique.
- Because the meeting between our heroes begins their initiation journey. Sandy and Danny, my loves, have many things to settle in order to achieve happiness! You will have understood the nuance of their two first names: Erika once again kicks conventions, Sandy is a man and Danny is a woman… When I told you about unique characters, with their own identity and an equally singular personality.
- Because the story is not limited to a tumultuous romance. Promise kept , ah! This title, what it represents in the story, the reflection it entails ... Keeping its promises? Sandy thinks he's incapable. I liked the progress around this theme. Sandy leaves for a good reason, but what will he experience "on the way"?
- Because this novel is relatively short. Erika Boyer is not burdened with the superfluous. It goes to the essentials to mark the reader in a few pages and it is effective and sufficient to live wonderful moments, frank camaraderie ... You will smile at the references to certain TV series, to certain films. I felt right at home, and it feels good to feel that.
- Because romance is powerful, devastating and modern. Without instructions, our heroes will let themselves be carried away by their emotions. Love is born in chaos and perdition. Erika Boyer is very strong at disturbing her readers, at making them think and above all at making them feel a thousand emotions. Feelings that consume, that annoy at times. I liked being mistreated, I liked to moan after our heroes who sometimes acted without taking the measure of their actions. We are constantly torn by the choices of Sandy and Danny.
- Because Erika Boyer once again took my guts. This first opus is a real favorite. Without prejudice, the author offers us a unique story, striking, in tune with the times, but capable of offending the sensitivity of the readers. Sandy and Danny are still vibrating in me and I know that will be the case until I find them in the second opus, to be released in March.

The plot. Sandy, our hero, goes in search of his sister to help his mother who needs a kidney transplant. This sister could be the key to their mother's recovery. But what will he find "on the way"?
Characters. Many characters in this story, all singular and endearing. Sandy and Danny, our hero, will train you to meet colorful characters. I appreciated the diversity of each and their unfailing loyalty.
Places. Direction Lège-Cap-Ferret. Our heroes will scour the surroundings, I liked the landscapes, the general atmosphere of the place.
The time. The story takes place in our time.
The author. Erika Boyer is an author dear to my heart! His writing is intended without artifice, everything is authentic. An author to follow, surely!
