After an 8-year hiatus, the first passenger flight that took off from Damascus International Airport arrived today, Wednesday, after the Syrian army regained control of dozens of villages and towns in the western and northwestern countryside of Aleppo.

The plane, which belongs to Syrian Airlines, took off at 10:43 local time from Damascus, and arrived at Aleppo Airport at 11:23 local time.

The plane received water cannons as soon as it landed at the airport, and Syrian war fighters flew in the sky to welcome the plane and the return of air traffic at Aleppo airport.
