French "jet man" Rennes Rennes took off from the ground with the help of a wing made of carbon fiber and driven by four small engines, to fly at an altitude of 1800 meters in the sky of Dubai in an achievement described by the organizers as "the first of its kind in the world".

The 34-year-old French adventurer, known for his passion for extreme sports, achieved this feat on February 14th with his partners on the "Jet Man" team, who have so far been used to jumping in midair from high altitude.

The Expo 2020, which opens in Dubai in October, welcomed the achievement that falls within the framework of the exhibition’s mission to achieve the “Human Aviation Project”.

The joint statement issued by the "Jet Man" and "Expo 2020" team confirmed that the achievement "is the first in the world."

The French flew at a height of 5 meters above the surface of the waters of the Arabian Gulf "for 100 seconds" before rising to a height of 1,800 meters and then returning to the runway.

He wore a carbon fiber wing with four small jet engines, able to reach a speed of 400 km per hour.

"Expo 2020" said that his countryside carried out in the three-minute trip "a complete detour maneuver and a sharp rotation maneuver at an altitude of 1,800 meters, before opening its canopy at an altitude of 1500 and landing safely."

He said in the statement that the trip "is a result of a very careful teamwork, where every small step has achieved great results. Everything was planned, and I was overwhelmed by the progress achieved."

He added, "One of the following objectives is to land on the ground after flying at an altitude, without the need to use a parachute."

Last year, his countrymen along with another pilot, Fred Fogin, flew through the Tianmen Cave in Hunan Province, China, as part of the project.
