The Russian government on Tuesday suspended the entry of Chinese citizens into the territory of the country from February 20 , in an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
According to the government directive, Chinese citizens will not be able to enter Russia either for labor or private or tourist or scientific purposes , sources from the Executive reported to the local press.
After midnight, the corresponding departments will stop issuing invitation documents for Chinese citizens, who can only enter Russia in case of transit to a third country.
The reason for this provisional decision, according to the official source, is "the worsening of the epidemiological situation in China and the continued entry of Chinese citizens into Russian territory."
The directive was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin , on the recommendation of the department responsible for combating the spread of COVID-19, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golíkova .
More than half a thousand Chinese citizens have been quarantined in Russia due to the coronavirus, mostly in medical centers in the far eastern regions of Russia, bordering on China.
