The Eurial group, milk branch of Agrial, the second French dairy cooperative, will apply for partial unemployment for the 130 employees of its factory in Luçon (Vendée) damaged by a fire last week, the company announced on Tuesday .

"There are no plans to resume activity in the short term," said human resources manager Thomas Guerton, who said the plant's "main building" was "badly damaged".

The request for partial unemployment has the approval of the social and economic committee

Technical analyzes "to ensure the condition of the site and its structure" will take one to two months, according to Thomas Guerton. The Luçon factory, which produces mozzarella for pizzas and Saint-Paulin, usually operates continuously, with 130 employees and around twenty temporary workers. The request for partial unemployment, currently being finalized, received the approval of the social and economic committee, meeting for the occasion, on Monday.

"We are in favor of the possibility for employees to go to work in the other closest Eurial sites geographically," said Thomas Guerton. Eurial employs 4,600 people at 28 manufacturing sites, including 23 in France.
