Sick, Sir Elton John was forced to stop one of his concerts in Auckland, New Zealand. At 72, Elton John is on a world tour, which is considered by many to be the last chance to see him on stage, before he retires.

He went to the end of his strength, but that was not enough. During a world tour, Sir Elton John had to throw in the towel at a concert in Auckland, New Zealand, due to pneumonia. The 72-year-old British superstar left the scene in tears, after 90 minutes of show. Elton John was first examined by a doctor, then returned to the stage trying to sing two songs.

That's when he apologized, "I have to go, I'm really sorry," he said to his cheering audience. Video footage shows Elton John dressed in a powder blue suit and wearing his oversized glasses, standing at the piano and shrugging his shoulders in front of the crowd, in a gesture of helplessness.

He then left the scene with his head down, helped by the members of his team. "I was diagnosed with atypical pneumonia earlier today, but I was determined to give you the best show possible," he later wrote on his social media. This pneumonia would cause mild infections of the respiratory system.

I want to thank everyone who attended tonight's gig in Auckland. I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia earlier today, but I was determined to give you the best show humanly possible. I played and sang my heart out, until my voice could sing no more. I'm disappointed, deeply upset and sorry. I gave it all I had. Thank you so much for your extraordinary support and all the love you showed me during tonight's performance. I am eternally grateful. Love, Elton xx @bengibsonphoto

But that should not prevent him from ensuring the rest of his dates this week, he must also give three other concerts Tuesday and Thursday, still in Auckland, and Saturday in Australia. "Doctors are confident he will recover," said a spokesperson. The "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour is considered the last chance to see the singer before he retires. He will be in Paris from October 10 to 13 at the AccorHotel Arena.
