One month after having been announced France's official candidate for Eurovision 2020, Tom Leeb unveiled Sunday the song he will perform on the evening of the grand final next May in Rotterdam. With "The Best in me", a romantic ballad half in French, half in English, Tom Leeb will try to win France for the first time in over 40 years.

The song that will be performed by Tom Leeb for France at the Eurovision 2020 competition, unveiled on Sunday evening on France 2 , is a romantic ballad half in French, half in English, entitled "The Best in me". Performed by the singer on a stage at the foot of the illuminated Eiffel Tower, the song alternates verses in French and a chorus in English proclaiming "You are the best in me" ("Tu es le meilleur de moi").

A song composed by three Swedish

It was composed by the Swedish Thomas G: Son, Peter Boström and John Lundvik (already behind the song "Euphoria", which had won Eurovision in 2012, Tom Leeb, Amir Haddad (candidate for France in 2016) and Lea Ivanne). According to Le Parisien , the selected song was initially composed entirely in English by the Swedish trio, so Tom Leeb and Amir in "rewrote the verses" in French.

The choice of Tom Leeb (son of humorist Michel Leeb) to represent France had been announced on January 14 by France Télévisions. The European song competition will take place in Rotterdam (Netherlands) on May 16. France Télévisions intends to deploy a vast system on its antennas, but also via a promotion campaign in the countries of Eurovision to increase the chances of success of Tom Leeb. France has indeed no longer won the Eurovision since the coronation of Marie Myriam in 1977.
