“The seismic event took place on Sunday at about 12:00 local time (03:00 Moscow time) ... The epicenter was 53 km southeast of the Ust-Kamchatsk regional center,” an Interfax report from the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

It is noted that the earthquake source lies at a depth of 10 km, the energy class of the earthquake was 10.7.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred in the east of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
