What if the French could vote on pension reform? Two out of three French people (67%) are in favor, via the organization of a referendum, according to an Ifop poll published on Thursday. According to the polling institute, a majority of them would reject the point system wanted by the government.

A third of those questioned (32%) said they were "completely favorable" to a referendum and 35% "somewhat favorable". Conversely, 33% are not in favor, according to this survey for L'Humanité and La Marseillaise . Those close to LFI and the PCF (84%) as well as those of the RN (76%) are the most favorable to the organization of a referendum by the President of the Republic, ahead of those of the PS (69%) and the Republicans (54%). Only supporters of La République en Marche are mainly hostile (55% against).

LREM and LR supporters aligned

In the event of a referendum, 56% of those questioned, registered on the electoral rolls, would vote against the establishment of "a universal pension system by points", as proposed by Emmanuel Macron and the government. A minority (44%), on the other hand, would be favorable, especially among those close to LREM (85%) and LR (65%).

The social partners were received on Thursday by the Prime Minister to "take stock" of the consultations on the reform, before the resumption of debates in the National Assembly and the "financing conference" next week.

Survey carried out online from February 11 to 12 among 1,001 people aged 18 and over, using the quota method. Margin of error from 1.4 to 3.1 points.
