- Because the author, Xavier de Moulins, beyond the journalist and the television man we know, is also a talented writer and it would be a shame to miss his pen.
- Because the first sentence of the book sets the tone of the text: "The little cat is dead". The narrator (is this the author himself or a character) will tell us about his cat for 122 pages: The announcement of his untimely death, the shock, the earthquake that it causes. He tells us about this cat that he did not want at the start, the way he gave in to the smile of his daughters. He got used to this intrusive "roommate" then became attached to it.
