But the competition will be fierce for Todd Philipps who will face Sam Mendes and his film 1917 , sacred at the Bafta ceremony in early February. The Irishman, by Martin Scorsese distributed by Netflix, or Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino are also in the running to win this statuette. As for the category of best actress, Renée Zellweger is ultra favorite for her interpretation of Judy Garland in the biopic "Judy".

French chances, on the other hand, are meager, despite the presence of two films. The first, Les Misérables, praised by critics in Cannes and by the public in theaters, will face Parasite by Bong John Hoo in the category of best foreign film.
