R. Kelly is entangled in many trials and the New York trial has just been postponed. According to judge Ann Donnelly, the singer having to be brought to justice in Chicago on April 27, he cannot be tried in mid-May in New York. It is therefore on July 7, as relayed by Reuters, that the singer of I Believe I Can Fly will have to explain himself with justice.

The singer will be tried for racketeering, sexual abuse and corruption of an official. The choice of jurors also promises to be tedious. "400 to 500 potential jurors" will have to be screened, says Reuters.

Sordid accusations

For the past year, R. Kelly has been in a Chicago jail awaiting trial. In addition to the one that will take place in Brooklyn, he is also expected at the bar to defend himself in Chicago against accusations of child crime. He is accused of having offered sex to five minors, of having filmed some of his lovemaking with minors and of blackmailing the victims to obtain their silence.

The judicial machine started following the damning documentary, Surviving R. Kelly , whose second season was broadcast at the start of the year in the United States. The singer pleads not guilty to all charges. If R. Kelly is found guilty, he risks life in prison.
