The prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône Pierre Dartout authorized in a prefectural decree taken this Thursday the requisition of the garbage collectors on strike in Marseille, at the request of the metropolis of Aix-Marseille Provence, learned 20 Minutes from the prefecture.

Since January 23, waste collection has been disrupted in Marseille by the protesters' movement against pension reform and for the improvement of their working conditions. In response, this Wednesday evening, the community announced its intention to requisition the striking agents, supported by the CGT, to evacuate the 3,000 tonnes of pending garbage in the streets of Marseille. The requisition will be effective as soon as the agents are notified of this decision.
